Outpatient Cancer Centre
Seamlessly blending a state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre into an area of natural beauty.
In 2010 CSM Architects were commissioned to oversee the design and build of a state-of-the-art radiotherapy centre for Cancer Partners UK, now GenesisCare in Little Aston.
Situated within the former grounds of Little Aston Hall, a Grade II listed building that also lies within a designated Green Belt. We were tasked with creating something that would blend seamlessly with the surrounding area, whilst also offering industry-leading specialist treatment for patients.
Our solution was to conceal the new building within a landscaped mound which would screen the building from the nearby flats, creating an element of privacy for both patients and residents.
Alongside this, we included different types of “Green roofs” and added natural Ashlar stone facing to the building and Corten steel sheet facing on the flanking retaining walls to harmoniously merge the building with the natural beauty of its surrounding landscape.
The centre now offers integrated end-to-end care for patients from initial planning, right through to recovery and beyond.
